Photo Booth Space Requirements for Any NYC Venue
Every booth we bring needs some combination of floor space, ceiling clearance and a nearby outlet — here's exactly how much, by booth type, so your venue coordinator isn't guessing.

Why we ask about your venue before the day of
Nearly every setup problem we've ever run into traces back to the same thing: nobody confirmed the space until the truck was already outside. A booth that looks compact in a showroom photo still needs a real footprint, a real ceiling height and a real outlet, and venues vary enormously — a hotel ballroom and a brownstone parlor floor are not the same planning problem.
So before your event, we ask for the room, and ideally a photo, so we can tell you honestly whether your first-choice booth fits or whether something else in our range is the better call. What follows is the actual math we use.
The standard footprint: mirror, glam, AI and GIF booths
Most of our open-air booths — the magic mirror, the glam booth, the AI booth and the GIF booth — share the same baseline: 10ft x 10ft is the ideal footprint, giving room for the booth itself, a backdrop, a props table and a red carpet if you want one. When a venue is tighter than that, we can compress down to a minimum of 8ft x 8ft with 7.5ft of ceiling clearance, which still fits the full experience, just without the extra breathing room.
Every one of these booths needs a standard 110V, 5-amp, 3-prong outlet within 15 feet of the setup spot, ideally one that isn't already shared with the DJ's rig or a chafing dish warmer — a shared circuit is one of the more common causes of a mid-event trip.
Booths that need more room: 360, vogue and the Glambot
A few of our booths need more than the standard footprint because of how they operate. The 360 booth's camera arm sweeps a full circle around guests standing on a platform, and a crowd reliably gathers to watch — 8ft x 8ft with 7.5ft of clearance is the floor, but 12ft x 12ft is genuinely better if the room allows it, since the queue becomes part of the show rather than blocking a walkway. It also needs a dedicated 15 or 20-amp outlet, not a standard one.
The vogue booth and the Glambot's robotic arm both want a similar footprint — around 12ft x 12ft with clear ceiling height — plus their own dedicated outlet. Because both are larger installs than a standard booth, load-in at a venue with restricted access can take closer to two hours rather than the usual twenty minutes, so we plan that time in ahead of the day rather than discovering it on arrival.
Tight venues, brownstones and outdoor setups
Some of our most-requested venues are also our tightest. A Park Slope or Crown Heights parlor floor often means a narrow stairwell, which changes what we bring — a compact mirror booth or a roaming attendant travels light and fits where a full 360 rig wouldn't, and we confirm a shared brownstone electrical panel's capacity before the day rather than during it.
Outdoor setups follow a different checklist entirely: a level, dry surface, cover from direct weather, and the same outlet requirement as indoors. We'll walk through your specific outdoor site with you in advance rather than assuming a backyard works the same way a tent does.
What to send us before you book
The room name (or a photo of it), the rough dimensions if you have them, and whether there's an elevator, stairs or a loading dock involved is usually all we need to confirm your booth choice fits. We arrive about an hour before your scheduled start time to set up and test everything, and setup itself typically takes around 20 minutes once we're in the room.
If your venue needs us on-site earlier than that — for early access or extra setup time at a tighter space — an idle fee of $150 per hour applies. It's not a penalty, just the honest cost of an attendant standing by rather than driving to another booking.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How much space does a standard photo booth need?
10ft x 10ft is the ideal footprint for our mirror, glam, AI and GIF booths, and we can compress to a minimum of 8ft x 8ft with 7.5ft of ceiling clearance when a venue is tight. We'll confirm the exact fit against your venue before you book.
What if my venue is smaller than that?
Tell us the room and we'll recommend a booth that actually fits — a compact mirror booth or a roaming attendant with a handheld capture system both work well in tighter interiors like a brownstone parlor floor, where a larger rig wouldn't.
Does the booth need special power?
Most booths need a standard 110V, 5-amp, 3-prong outlet within 15 feet, ideally not shared with the DJ or catering equipment. The 360 booth, vogue booth and Glambot need a dedicated 15 or 20-amp outlet instead, since they draw more power.
Can a photo booth be set up outdoors?
Yes, many of our booths can be set up outdoors when the site allows — a level, dry area with cover from rain and wind, plus the same outlet requirement as an indoor setup. We'll review your specific outdoor location with you before the day.
How long does setup take?
About 20 minutes for a standard booth once we're in the room. Larger installs like the vogue booth or Glambot can take closer to two hours at venues with restricted access, so we plan that into the schedule in advance.
What if I don't know my venue's exact dimensions?
That's normal — send us the venue name or a photo of the room and we'll tell you honestly which booth fits and whether anything about the space, like stairs or a shared electrical panel, needs planning around.
Not sure what your venue can fit?
Send us the room and we'll tell you honestly which booth works — and confirm power, access and setup time before you book.
