What is a studio photo booth?

The studio booth brings a proper portrait setup into your venue: a pro-grade DSLR, creative studio lighting, and an attendant who knows how to direct a shot. The result is the kind of clean, flattering portrait people actually keep — closer to a photographer's studio session than a party snapshot.

Guests can shoot stills, GIFs or short videos in the same session, so the booth works as hard for a corporate headshot corner as it does for a dance-floor crowd.

What is included with a studio booth rental

Every studio booth rental includes the camera system and lighting set up and tested before your event begins, a trained attendant for the full booking, unlimited sessions, and instant delivery by text, email or QR code, plus an online gallery afterwards.

Overlays are designed for your event — your names and date, or your logo and colors — so everything guests share carries the occasion with it.

How much space does a studio booth need?

Optimal setup is 10ft x 10ft, which gives room for the camera, lighting and backdrop. We can compress to 8ft x 8ft when a venue is tight, and we need a standard 110V outlet within 15 feet, ideally not shared with the DJ or catering.

Our crew arrives a full hour before your start time and sets up in about 20 minutes, so the lighting is dialed in before your first guest arrives.

What clients say

4.9 stars from 210 Google reviews

Magic Mirror Brooklyn is Absolutely the BEST thing we added to our wedding reception! People were still talking about how much FUN they had 2 weeks after, they LOVED Vallon and his crew who made everything so much FUN, the keepsake photos were Hilarious & guests stayed WAY later than they would have because we had this UNIQUE booth! Typical photobooths have NOTHING on this Mirror. If I could give a 10 star rating..I would!

Selly & Sherwin

Magic Mirror Brooklyn was incredibly professional and friendly upon booking online, particularly in regards to the rental of the Mirror photo-booth. They worked tirelessly to pull off our vision and went above and beyond throughout the process. On event day, they were professional and had wonderful interactions with each guest who came to get their picture taken.

Sasha & Gladstone

It was a pleasure doing business with Valen. He was very polite, professional and very accommodating. Him and his assistant had very good energy and kept all of our guests having fun. The table with accessories was kept neat and organized the whole evening. The booth was a big hit in my event! Would definitely hire this company again.

Questions

Studio Booth FAQ

Is the studio booth good for corporate headshots?

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons it gets booked. The DSLR and studio lighting produce genuinely usable headshots, and guests receive them instantly by email, which makes it a practical perk at conferences and networking events.

What backdrops can we use with the studio booth?

Any backdrop in our range — solid premium backdrops, one of our 30+ flower walls, or a custom branded backdrop for corporate events. We will recommend one based on your room and the look you want.

How much does a photo booth rental cost in NYC?

Pricing depends on which booth you choose, how many hours you need, and where your venue is. Every quote is built for your specific event rather than pulled off a rate card, so the fastest way to a real number is the quote form — it takes about 30 seconds. Additional hours beyond your booked time are $125 per hour.

Is an attendant included with the photo booth rental?

Yes. A trained attendant runs every booth for the full length of your rental — setting up, keeping the prop table organized, helping guests, and packing down afterward. You never have to assign someone from your own team to look after the booth.

How much space does the booth need?

Optimal setup is 10ft x 10ft, which leaves room for the backdrop, prop table and a red carpet. We can compress into a smaller footprint when a venue is tight — the minimum is 8ft x 8ft with 7.5ft of ceiling clearance. We also need a standard 110V, 5-amp, 3-prong outlet within 15 feet of the booth.

How long does setup take?

About 20 minutes from the moment we walk in until we are taking the first picture. We arrive a full hour before your scheduled start time so everything is tested and ready. If you need us on site earlier than that, idle time is $150 per hour.

Do you carry insurance and can you provide a COI for my venue?

Yes. We carry a $3 million insurance policy. If your venue needs a certificate of insurance naming them as additionally insured, reply to your booking confirmation with their contact email and we will send it over.

Can the studio booth be used outdoors?

Yes, with a level, dry, covered space — since the studio lighting does the work rather than relying on ambient light, results stay consistent outdoors as long as the site is sheltered from wind and rain.

How is the studio booth different from the glam booth or the magazine booth?

All three use a pro DSLR and studio lighting, but the studio booth is the most flexible — it shoots color stills, GIFs and short video without a fixed style, which is why it works for headshot corners as well as party portraits. The glam booth applies one signature black-and-white edit to every frame, and the magazine booth drops the portrait into a custom cover design.

Can the studio booth run across multiple days of a conference?

Yes — since the lighting setup is calibrated once at load-in, it works well for a multi-day headshot station or networking event. Tell us your schedule and we'll quote the hours needed each day.

Does the studio booth shoot video, or just stills?

Both. Guests can shoot stills, GIFs or short videos in the same session, so the same setup covers a formal headshot and a livelier dance-floor portrait without swapping equipment.
